Dillon Dhanecha, a previous TEDx speaker, very recently took a bold decision to close the curtain on his international consulting career in order to focus on his BAG! (Big Audacious Goal!). A passionate believer in "trade not aid", Dillon has set out on a practical mission to show how increasing Rwanda's national exports and re-investing profits in to youth development activities can lay stronger foundations for growth than the equivalent monetary injection of aid, by catalyzing creative industries that in turn attract higher levels of inward investment. Conscious of his corporate roots, he admits, "trade not aid" is not a new concept and there are others more qualified to comment on the theory. Nonetheless, he remains confident that a successful practical demonstration of his unique model will lay a well-trodden path for others to travel. |
